Have you ever had any thoughts of making your own game but just don’t know where or how to start? 

Then get off the beaten track and join Pink Programmings first game development camp! Coming this summer, Pink Programming presents a camp where game development will be combined with outdoor activities in the beautiful rural town Järvsö. Don’t have any previous experience in programming? Don’t worry! Both the course and activities are suitable for beginners and seasoned programmers alike. 

The main focus of the camp will be a course in game development, in the programming language Java. Besides programming we will together experience adrenaline pumping activities in the vicinity of Järvsö. No previous experience in programming is required. All women and transgender people of any age and background are welcome to join the adventure! So pack your bag and get ready to spend five unforgettable days programming and exploring the marvelous Järvsö!

Where?

In the beautiful rural town Järvsö (detailed instructions on how to get to the camp will be sent out later).

Who is this camp for? 

We welcome all women-identified, whether they are girls, aunts, ladies, cis or trans. Our events are of course also open to those who do not identify themselves as women but because of gender identity does not feel represented among programmers.

What is the price? 

  • Regular price: 3900 SEK 
  • Student or unemployed : 2500 SEK 

What is included in the ticket price? 

  • Shared accommodation 
  • All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) which we will cook together at the house
  • A beginner course in Game Development (Java)
  • One session of river rafting*
  • One session of downhill cycling*
  • Other action and social activities
  • And last, but not least, an experience for life!

What is not included? 

  • Travel costs are not included in the price
  • Sheets and towels are not included, so you will have to bring your own

Will everything be in English? 

If we have English speaking participants the course will be in English, but do not worry if you feel your English is a bit rusty. The leaders all speak Swedish and we will all do our best to make everyone feel comfortable and get the most out of the camp no matter which language you are comfortable in.

* Note: In case of (very) bad weather, it might be necessary to make changes to the schedule, which might include cancellation or alternative activities.

Phiphi discovered programming at the first Pink Programming camp three years ago and has since then been arranging both summer and winter camps within Pink Programming. She will make sure you get the information and answers you need about the camp and do her best to spread some positive energy that hopefully will put a smile on your face!

Myky has been a part of Pink Programming since 2015 and has since then arranged multiple programming camps and workshops for women. In camp mode she is an night owl, so if you want to spend your evenings and nights working on your game or explore React Native we are sure she will always be there to help and join you with a big smile on her face!
